Otter created the AI-notetaker category. A decade on, transcription is a commodity — free at the low end — and the value has moved to what happens with the notes. That's the part Otter never built.

Otter deserves the credit a category creator gets: it made live transcription normal, and its pricing is still among the cheapest ways to get words-on-a-page from a meeting. But if you're evaluating Otter for a sales team in 2026, you're really buying three gaps. The transcript doesn't know the deal it belongs to. Nothing happens after the summary — no follow-up, no CRM update, no next booking. And the sales-specific layer (objection tracking, pipeline context, coaching) doesn't exist. Newer notetakers out-execute Otter on summaries, and deal platforms make the transcript a byproduct rather than the product. Agent07 takes the second path: meetings are captured at parity, and everything around them — the brief, the follow-up, the record, the objection library — is done by agents on one Deal Memory.
Fathom gives unlimited recording away free, and every meeting platform ships built-in transcription. Paying for words-on-a-page alone no longer makes sense; the value is in what acts on those words.
Otter doesn't know which deal a meeting belongs to, what was promised last time, or what the contract says. Every insight has to be carried to the CRM by hand — or it evaporates.
No follow-up draft, no CRM field updates, no next meeting booked. Otter ends where the sales work begins.
OtterPilot for Sales exists, but the product's center of gravity is general-purpose transcription — not objection extraction, coaching libraries, or pipeline intelligence.

Prices verified July 2026. Otter Pro $8.33/mo annual, Business ~$20. If pure transcription is the whole job, Otter and Fathom are cheaper — the comparison changes when the meeting belongs to a deal. Always confirm at vendor's website. Checked against Otter’s pricing page on June 22, 2026.

Agent07
Agent07 is the best Otter alternative for sales teams because the transcript is the input, not the output. The Meeting Agent records and summarizes at parity, then briefs you before calls from the whole deal, drafts the follow-up, updates the record automatically, extracts objections into an org library, and books the next meeting — on one Deal Memory shared with the inbox, docs, and pipeline.
Depending on your specific needs, these tools may be worth evaluating.
