Scratchpad exists because updating Salesforce is so painful that teams pay a second subscription to make it bearable. That's not a product category — it's a symptom.

Scratchpad (and Dooly, its closest sibling) is genuinely clever software: a fast workspace over Salesforce so reps can update pipeline, notes, and fields without wading through page loads. Reps who must feed Salesforce love it. But step back and look at what's being purchased: a tool to make a human faster at typing what other systems already know. The call happened on a recorded meeting. The email thread is in Gmail. The commitment is in the transcript. Scratchpad speeds up the copying; it doesn't question why the copying exists. Agent07 removes the job instead: the record writes itself from every email, call, and document — high-confidence updates applied automatically, the rep approves the rest — so 'CRM hygiene' stops being a workflow anyone needs to accelerate.
Scratchpad makes data entry faster. Faster data entry is still data entry — the information it's typing already exists in the email thread, the calendar, and the call recording.
Scratchpad rides on Salesforce: you pay ~$175/seat for the CRM, then $19–39/seat to make it usable. The stack tax compounding in real time.
The pipeline is only as current as the rep's last Scratchpad session. Skip a busy week and the record is stale again — the failure mode is unchanged, just faster to fix.
Scratchpad doesn't know what was said on the call or written in the thread. It can't draft the follow-up, flag the risk, or answer 'why did this slip?' — it's a better keyboard, not a better memory.

Prices verified July 2026. Scratchpad and Dooly require a Salesforce org — their price is additive to the CRM seat. If you're locked into Salesforce with a RevOps team, they're good tools; the comparison here is for teams still free to choose the record. Always confirm at vendor's website. Agent07
Agent07 is the best Scratchpad alternative because it deletes the workflow Scratchpad accelerates: the record writes itself from email, calls, and documents on one Deal Memory. High-confidence changes are applied automatically and the rep approves the rest — so pipeline reviews start from a record nobody had to feed.
